Jarabacoa is located in the mountains of the Cordillera Central and is the main point of ascent to Pico Duarte. Three rivers cross it (Baiguate, Yaque del Norte and Jimenoa), making adventure sports popular here, such as rafting, canyoning, tubing and abseiling.

Its trails for mountain biking and horse riding are also famous. In fact, Jarabacoa is credited with being the birthplace of ecotourism in the country.
