Haitises National Park, a dense coastal rainforest in the southern part of the Bahia de Samana, is a huge reserve full of caves, Taino pictographs, and hundreds of species of birds, many of them indigenous. The distinguishing characteristic of the area is its lomitas, flat topped hillocks that reach up to 40 metres and cover the entire park.

The park offers the opportunity to hike through forests of hundred-year-old trees, Taíno caves, keys and one of the richest mangrove reserves in the world.
