The Sian Ka'an Biosphere Reserve, whose name translates to "where the sky is born", has an area of half a million hectares. It includes over 20 Mayan settlements, beaches, coral reefs, a rainforest, sand dunes and natural pools, where more than 300 species of birds and countless plants and animals live.

Sian Ka'an offers the opportunity to kayak through its narrow canals in a mangrove, climb to the top of a pyramid, float in the waters of a natural pool, go fly fishing, join a bird watching tour and enjoy a romantic sunset in its wetlands, among other activities.
