Xcaret, formerly Polé, was an important Mayan settlement before the Spanish Conquistadors arrived in the sixteenth century. Today it is an ecological theme park located 5 km south of Playa del Carmen where you can visit a huge aquarium, a colourful butterfly house and have the unforgettable experience of swimming with dolphins or snorkelling in an underground river.

Moreover, the activities are complemented by theatre, folk dancing and other traditions such as Ulama, the ball game that Mexican ancestors played in rituals in ancient times.
